Why I am Running
Having gained the ODM nomination for Nairobi Women Rep, I am now vying in the general elections as a part of the NASA coalition political team, determined to deliver good leadership to the City of Nairobi. A key factor motivating my ambition to become Women Rep is the staggering levels of poverty in the city, affecting mainly young people, women and children. The link between poverty, crime and tribal division and hatred cannot be disputed; indeed, Tribalism isn’t Kenya’s biggest threat but poverty is. My platform as Women Rep allows for interventions in this regard and I am determined to find solutions to address issues such as Job Creation, Environmental waste management, women’s rights and healthcare.
With this in mind, I am launching the #TwendeKazi project, an initiative that invites 1 million young people and 1 million women to work together with Team Passaris and me in forming an investment Savings and Credit institution that will work directly with communities. #TwendeKazi will provide startup capital, financial, legal and marketing advice and support so that small businesses supported by the initiative are able to stabilize and grow, providing services and products within their communities as well as becoming pools for job creation.
I believe that together we can change Nairobi, for all of us, to create cleaner, safer and more economically stable communities. Progress cannot come through my efforts alone. You and 1 must be united, ready to work together for a united Nairobi. Let’s work together and win together!
I am ready & committed.
